Purpose: Discovering the Dandelions

Imagine standing in the middle of a busy city where everyone rushes around, pointing at huge, magnificent sights. All of a sudden you can't take your eyes off a small, yellow, beautiful dandelion. People crowd around you wondering why you are staring at a weed while they are gazing at a skyscraper. This new fascination has you starting to think that you've gone insane, and yet you keep studying it like it is more amazing than the huge towers stacked high above you. You think to yourself, "Why do people find dandelions insignificant?" as there you are caught, almost daydreaming of something you pass by everyday. No one else ever gave it a second thought, but here you are - simply captivated.

You may be asking, "Why would I be interested in a weed that no one would ever care about? And even if it was fascinating, what about the amazing skyscraper everyone else is looking at?"

Well, you may think that those were reasons that dandelion ISN'T special, but I think those are what make it even MORE special. The first question states that no one else cares about it.The beauty about this statement is that the dandelion has already been SEEN, but not THOUGHT of because we are told it is insignificant. In the second question, you compare it to something bigger, or maybe just more visually attention-grabbing.

This is how I got the name for my blog, "Dandelions and Daydreams."This blog's purpose is not to see things that haven't been seen already, but to see ordinary things differently, which is just as valuable as discovering something that hasn't been seen before. In a nutshell, the purpose of this blog is to find joy in the little things. Typically, when I use the word "dandelion" on this blog, it means things that are either small or deemed insignificant.

So, go ahead, study some dandelions- those things that no one gives a second thought to. And get rid of the Round-up (the negative voices inside your head telling you you're the bad kind of crazy).
Topics
The main purpose of this blog is, as I mentioned above, is finding joy in the little things. It is also to see things from a different perspective and provide inspiration. I would consider this a personal blog, because I will write about a variety of topics. It will basically go wherever my mind goes. I hope to mainly blog about: spirituality, theories/ideas, writing, the arts, short stories, and my life in general. Enjoy:)
